AZ Shockwave 16U A had a solid showing at the Colorado Sparkler.
The team came away with the 1st seed in pool play with a record of 3 wins and 1 tie.

Tournament play in the Gold Bracket started on Friday against Washington Hustle. Solid hitting led to a 12 - 5 victory. OC Batbusters was our next opponent and after a few defensive errors the team was trailing late in the game. The team battled back to have an opportunity to win with bases loaded and no outs but ended up a little short with a loss and score of 5 - 8.
On Saturday the team started the day with a very excited game against a very tough opponent, Scottsdale Fever 96. The team held them off to win 10 - 8. Shockwave went on to beat RR Gold Deanda with a score of 6 - 0. Then the team had another close game against CBAD. The team was trailing in the last inning with 2 outs. A hit deep into left center scored 2 runs to win the game with a final score of 10 - 9. The teams next opponent was LV Pride. This was a team that had beaten Shockwave soundly just a few weeks earlier, however, the outcome would be different this time. The team continued to play well to avenge the loss in convincing fashion with a final score of 10 - 4. The team moved to a different field for their 5th game of the day to play Team Smith. Shockwave found themselves down earlier and Team Smith did not let up as they continued to hit the ball well and make solid defensive plays. Shockwave found it difficult to score with several line drives hit directly at their opponents. The final score was 1 - 8 and teams incredible run through the losers bracket came to an end.
The team was proud to finish 5th in the 16U Open gold bracket with an overall record of 8 wins 2 losses and 1 tie. This was another solid finish to a great 2010 / 2011 year.

AZ Shockwave 16U A completed a team meeting and mapped out plans for the upcoming summer season. The team plans to be very active and intends to play in 6 - 7 tournaments including two national tournaments. The team is searching for 1-2 more players to add to its roster. AZ Shockwave participated in the TCS Las Vegas City Lights Showcase and had a solid showing:

2 - 2 vs Valley Madness, CA
4 - 1 vs California Mirage, CA
9 - 6 vs Las Vegas Pride, NV
3 - 1 vs Lil' Rebels, NV
We had many exciting moments including a grand slam homerun by Allyssa to give us the lead against Las Vegas Pride and homeruns by Allyssa and Jessica to get us the victory over Lil' Rebels. The team overall showed solid improvement with their bats and did a great job on defense.
